E-commerce Product Photography for Hetkinen’s Hand Wash Refills

HETKINEN is a Finnish lifestyle brand known for its minimalist design, natural ingredients, and sustainable approach.

About the Product

Five new hand wash refill pouches were set to launch — each with its own scent and texture.

Brief

With this new line, HETKINEN needed imagery that would make simple refill bags feel premium and desirable. The visuals had to serve two main purposes:

1️⃣ Catalog images for product detail pages on their own website and retail platforms

2️⃣ Styled shots for marketing, storytelling, and social media

Creative Process

We focused on creating minimalist yet striking visuals that highlight the textures while staying true to HETKINEN’s serene and elevated identity.

To keep the visuals consistent, I proposed a smart solution:
→ Photograph one carefully composed base image and digitally apply each of the five labels in post-production. The bigger challenge was figuring out how to create the texture images required more advanced compositing.

This approach saved time and cut retouching costs by over 41% — while making sure each image felt crafted, not copy-pasted.

Behind the Scenes

What seemed simple at first became a thoughtful, layered process — ensuring every visual felt both natural and intentional

Each shot was planned with platform fit and brand positioning in mind

I explored background tones, shadow variations, and layouts to ensure the white pouches and textures looked balanced on both white and grey backdrops

3.

I provided additional options: with and without shadows, with a horizontal surface, and varying hand positions

4.

Throughout the process, I worked closely with the retoucher — reviewing tests and guiding each image to match the intended look and feel

These images work well for both catalog and social media. They show scale, texture, human presence, and product usage.
